AbilityNet accredited websites and apps have been tested by a representative sample of disabled users who can provide an authentic account of the issues that they encounter. As part of the accreditation process, expert accessibility testing is used to ensure that good accessibility practice has been followed.

Deliverables

Re-accreditation is awarded when there have not been any noteworthy updates to the pages in the original accreditation scope. The following deliverables have been conducted.

WCAG Headline Review (Desktop)

An expert consultant used WCAG 2.1 to perform a high-level review of the pages and raise conformance failures. The recheck involved reviewing the same issues to confirm that they had been resolved.

Expert Review (Desktop)

An expert consultant conducted review of a set of 5 core journeys using different technologies, such as screen reader, keyboard, pointer device, voice recognition software and screen magnification software.

Exceptions

For this User Accredited accreditation, all issues identified with Low priority are out of scope. Any High and Medium priority issues identified during the review procedure have been subsequently resolved with the following exceptions:

Expert Review (Desktop)

The following issue has been identified in the review and is due to be addressed by the National Lottery by November 2021.

  • There is functionality that completes on down event. There is no mechanism to cancel the functionality before it is completed.

The following items have been removed from scope for accreditation purposes:

  • Content displayed on hover cannot be dismissed without moving mouse pointer
  • Disclosure is not associated with information that provides context

User Testing

The feedback form was tested in 2020 and not re-tested in 2021. This was not part of the original audit, but during the user testing, some participants had difficulties with the feedback form for the following reasons:

  • Radio buttons have the same screen reader announcement
  • Input field labels are not associated
  • Mandatory fields are not identified

The feedback form is from a third-party vendor and discussions are ongoing with them to make this more accessible in the near future.
