Information for Disability Advisers
AbilityNet has close links to Higher Education (HE) and Further Education (FE) Disability Advisers and other specialists in many universities and other centres. We can help advisors at all stages of education in a number of ways, including:
- access to our expert teams to discuss questions or issues with individual cases
- invitations to our inclusive Tech Demo Day events - a chance to meet our experts and experience an immersive technology session
- invitations to our expert webinars, many of which are relevant to education settings
Please do contact us if you'd like to find out more and discuss how we can support you.
Free resources to share with students
As a charity we are keen to ensure that students have access to the best quality advice and support, whether that is through the support services in their place of study or through our own free resources. Please feel free to share any of our expert resources within your own services, including our:
- Free expert resources such as factsheets, webinars, free disability sessions and My Computer My Way which offers 'how to' guides to make your device easier to use
- Free assistive technology and technology support helpline
- UK-wide network of Technology Volunteers offer support to older people and disabled people of any age, anywhere in the UK
- Free factsheet on how to get support from Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) as a student living with a learning difference, disability, physical or mental health condition
- Higher Education (HE) Support Checker, which enables students to find out if they could be eligible for extra support at university due to a health condition or impairment, but please note this will no longer be maintained and updated as of 31 March 2023
