Course overview
Voice recognition software helps people who have some people with motor impairments to use their computer. It also allows users to dictate text onto their computer, rather than typing. Voice recognition allows users to press keyboard keys and move the mouse, allowing people to use their computer without the need for fine motor control.
This course will look at one of the widely used voice recognition programs, Dragon Naturally Speaking, to better understand the fundamentals of using this software to navigate through a web page. It will also include a section about testing for accessibility with voice recognition software. While this course will include demonstrations of Dragon Naturally Speaking, the considerations and concepts discussed are also applicable to other voice recognition programs.
What you will learn
At the end of this course you will know:
- What voice recognition software is and how it helps users to interact with a website
- What software is available and their similarities and differences
- The fundamentals of using voice recognition software to navigate
- How to use voice recognition software to test for accessibility on the web
