Course overview

This course is part of a series in which AbilityNet’s workplace inclusion experts discuss the importance of embedding inclusivity at every stage of the employee journey. This course focuses on recruitment and onboarding.

The recruitment process is the first impression most candidates will have of your organisation. According to Glassdoor, 76% of hiring decision makers say attracting quality candidates is their number one challenge. To attract the widest talent pool, you need to review each stage through the eyes of diverse candidates to make sure you are not inadvertently excluding anyone or giving them cause to decide against applying for your role.

If the recruitment process is the first impression filled with promise, onboarding and induction should be a honeymoon time where your organisation and your new employee get to know one another properly. There is much that can go awry if this process is not planned and designed with inclusivity in mind, and everything to gain by getting it right - with Glassdoor reporting that a strong onboarding process can improve new hire retention by 82% and productivity by over 70%.

AbilityNet’s workplace inclusion experts will discuss the importance of embedding inclusivity at every stage of the recruitment and onboarding processes. The course is interactive and practical and involves real life case studies and employee feedback to help articulate the benefits and how technology can be used to help achieve this.

Attendees will use AbilityNet’s employee inclusion journey GAP analysis to help identify gaps in their own process and understand tech powered solutions that can help.

What you will learn

All the stages of the recruitment and onboarding process starting with job advertisement, to application process, to pre interview, the interview itself and offer stage.

Following on with welcome, to workstation set up and tools, training process, team introduction and embedding and communicating both the big picture and the lowdown on any ‘need to know’ unwritten rules and cultural expectations.

"Very insightful and informative."
"A well delivered and well-paced webinar. Liked the polls and colourful examples."
“I’ve found the sessions useful in bringing the range of accessibility issues to our attention."
