Meet AbilityNet's 2026 Long Service Volunteer Award recipients

Text reads on graphic: It's time to say thank you #VounteersWeekBehind every successful charity are volunteers who offer their support long term, giving their time along with continuity, care and a passion that grows stronger each year.

AbilityNet is proud to boast many long-term amazing volunteers and this upcoming Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) we're shining a spotlight on some of our recently awarded long service AbilityNet Tech Volunteers.

They help older and disabled people in their local areas to use technology and complete online tasks as part of AbilityNet's free IT Support 500+ volunteer network.

Meet recent long service volunteers

Our long service volunteers offer familiar support to those they help and share invaluable experience with new volunteers. Their dedication helps create a sense of community that simply can’t be replicated.

So, let's meet our recently awarded long service volunteers who have provided decades of support. Find out what they would like to say about volunteering with AbilityNet!

"I have enjoyed my 15 years volunteering. There is always something new to learn, and it's good to know you are providing help to those who need it. The vast majority of clients are very grateful for the service we provide, and often surprised that it's free!"

"I am grateful to AbilityNet for giving me the opportunity to provide voluntary service to the community.

I gain great satisfaction from seeing happy faces after resolving end users’ issues and helping them regain confidence with technology.

The AbilityNet team provides excellent support and guidance, and I would very much like to continue offering my services to the community for as long as possible."

"I started volunteering with  AbilityNet just before I retired, and there are staff who were there at that point who still remain, which says lots about the satisfaction they get from their work.

Over the past 15 years I have always found it a pleasure, whenever I have needed to contact any of the central team. That of course makes the role of the volunteers so much easier having that support.

Of course, I wouldn't still be doing this if I didn't get so much satisfaction from supporting our clients when required and over the years I have been so lucky to meet many amazing people who rise above their problems. In a way it is inspiring to see what can be achieved and often I learn from the people I am supporting."

Pankaj Bhasin last year celebrated 15 amazing years with us volunteering his time to help others in North London.

"Volunteering with AbilityNet for over 15 years has been both rewarding and inspiring. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with dedicated colleagues and contributing to meaningful work that makes a difference. This recognition is a lovely reminder of that journey."
