AbilityNet will be joining leaders from telecoms, government, technology and the public sector at Connected Britain 2026 in London to explore how better connectivity can help create more inclusive digital services and experiences.

Why digital inclusion matters

Connectivity is no longer just about being online. It affects how people access essential services, manage money, find work, stay independent and take part in society.

At Connected Britain 2026, industry experts, innovators and policymakers will come together to discuss the future of the UK’s digital economy and the role of connectivity in shaping it.

Taking place on day 1 - this session will explore how the cost-of-living crisis is changing the way digital poverty is defined, what more can be done to ensure social tariffs and free devices reach the people who need them, and the wider economic cost of leaving people offline.

Amy Low, CEO of AbilityNet, will be speaking alongside leaders from organisations including Elizabeth Anderson of Digital Poverty Alliance, Rich Thanki of Jangala, Will Plant of Cambridgeshire County Council and Grace Perks of Local Government Association.

On 9 September, this panel will look at how organisations can make digital services and customer support more accessible, how connectivity can support assistive technology and independent living, and how employers can better recruit and retain neurodiverse and disabled talent. 

Robin Christopherson MBE, Head of Digital Inclusion at AbilityNet, will join speakers from ImpactMatch, Blood Cancer UK, City of London Corp, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and Lewis Insight.

Fireside chat: AbilityNet and EdenChase Associates

Amy Low, CEO of AbilityNet, will also take part in a fireside chat with Cressida Stephenson, CEO of EdenChase Associates, as part of the People, Skills & Recruitment programme on day 1 of the conference.

On day 2, Chris Grant, Community Team Lead at AbilityNet, will moderate the discussion, bringing together experts from across the digital inclusion sector to explore how access to connectivity, devices and digital skills can be improved for people living in temporary accommodation. Chris will guide the conversation on tackling digital exclusion, encouraging cross-sector collaboration, and identifying practical solutions that help ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate fully in today's digital world.
