Hotel break reward for our 'Hidden Hero'
Annie Mannion | 17 Nov 2025Another of our 500+ network of amazing Tech Volunteers around the country has received a Room to Reward short hotel break, in recognition of his enthusiastic and dedicated support of AbilityNet and its clients.
Volunteer Steve Tritton was awarded a 'Hidden Heroes' prize of a relaxing trip away to a hotel in the New Forest.
Steve is described by the AbilityNet Free Services team as "massively knowledgeable" and they also note that "nothing seems to faze him".
Of his AbilityNet volunteering role, Steve says:
"I started volunteering with AbilityNet in February 2024. After leaving full-time employment in the IT sector, I explored different types of volunteering outside of technology. It took me a while to realise that the best way I could make a difference was by using my IT knowledge to help others — and that’s how I found AbilityNet.
The onboarding process was thorough and supportive, with excellent training and guidance from the volunteering team. My first client had Parkinson’s, and that visit marked the beginning of a truly rewarding journey.
Now, every time I help someone with Parkinson’s, sight loss, dementia, muscular dystrophy, age-related challenges, or other disabilities to use technology more easily, I see how it reconnects them to friends, family, and the wider world. That’s why I love volunteering with AbilityNet."
