The EU Accessibility Directive* became part of UK law earlier this year and has created a new set of digital accessibility requirements for public sector organisations, including universities and other HE Institutions. 

This will apply to websites, apps and all aspects of the digital student and service users experience, such as Virtual Learning Environments.
