AbilityNet appoints new CEO

The trustees of AbilityNet are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Amy Low is currently Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the charity and will succeed Gary Moore as CEO from Monday 5th August.  AbilityNet logo

AbilityNet’s core mission is its charitable output (“a digital world accessible to all”), using technology to support disabled people in work and in education and in day-to-day life. AbilityNet is one of the most trusted names in digital accessibility, serving a wide range of cross-sector clients including many of the largest brands in the UK. Through its TechShare Pro annual event, AbilityNet has cemented its place in the global accessibility landscape. In 2024, AbilityNet merged with digital inclusion charity Citizens Online, strengthening its capabilities in that area of impact.

Amy joined the charity in 2016 as a Service Delivery Director, bringing her experience from the commercial property sector. She has successfully led a number of teams and projects within AbilityNet, including our assessments, charitable operations and accessibility practices. She has a strong vision of an equitable and fulfilling life experience for disabled people and how thoughtfully-designed technology can feature in delivering it.

Gary steps down as CEO having been with the charity for over 6 years. He led the charity through the very challenging Covid period.  Amy Low smiling at the camera

Amy said “With the world becoming increasingly digitised, AbilityNet’s mission is as critical as ever. Advancements in assistive technology and the power of tech tools to enable people to participate fully have been significant and impactful. However many UK citizens still do not have access to the devices, data and skills to embrace digital, and too many organisations still fail to consider the needs of disabled people when designing their digital experiences. I look forward to collaborating with our diverse and highly skilled team, our partners, clients and wider community to enact positive change, dismantle these barriers and create “A Digital World Accessible to All”.

Alan Brooks, Chair of Trustees said “Working with our many partners, AbilityNet faces opportunities and challenges in our goal of improving the lives of disabled people. The trustees thank Gary for his leadership and wish him well. We are confident that the charity will continue to develop and thrive under Amy’s direction”.
