Digital Skills Training for disabled adults and older people - group application

AbilityNet and telecommunications company BT Group are working in partnership to help improve the digital skills of disabled adults and older* and digitally excluded people across the UK.

You can choose to have group sessions or one-to-one sessions in a communal space or at home.

Apply for a group training session

Complete the below form to enquire about a group training session. If you wish to apply for a one-to-one individual session, please complete our individual enquiry form.

Please ensure you are based in the following areas (or within a 20 mile radius) before you continue: London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Brighton & Hove, Belfast, Newcastle, Cardiff, Swansea and the Brecons and surrounding areas.

*Support and free digital devices available for disabled adults and people aged 55+ in the following areas: Cheshire, North Wales and South West Wales, Cardiff and the Brecons, Herefordshire, North Devon, South Devon/mid Somerset (including Portishead, Bridgwater, Exeter, Plymouth), Worcestershire, Essex, Inverness, Ayrshire (including Ayr, Irvine, Kilmarnock), North Glasgow, Stirling and surrounding areas.

Free device terms and conditions

Please note, free devices are only available to people over 55 or disabled adults over 18 in the following areas: Cheshire, North Wales and South West Wales, Cardiff, Swansea and the Brecons area, Herefordshire, North Devon, Portishead, Bridgwater, Exeter and Plymouth areas, Worcestershire, Essex, Inverness, Ayr, Irvine, Kilmarnock, North Glasgow and Stirling.

  • Each individual may receive a maximum of one device and/or SIM.  
  • Devices and SIMs must not be resold.  
  • Recipients must be 18 years of age or older.  

Devices  

  • Devices are not suitable for loan schemes; they become the property of the beneficiary.  
  • Devices are intended for individuals who do not have access to a suitable device and/or cannot afford to purchase one.  

SIMs  

  • SIMs include internet data valid for a set period or amount.  
  • After the data package ends, we AbilityNet can advise on social tariffs or alternative data providers.  

Eligibility criteria for organisations applying on behalf of clients/staff 

Organisations must confirm the following:  

  • You can identify individuals who lack access to a suitable device that doesn't enable someone to do what they want to do online..  
  • You already support these individuals through your regular activities.  
  • You can receive and store devices securely in an insured location prior to distributing them.  
  • You can distribute devices to eligible individuals and cover distribution costs.  
  • You agree to support end users to use their devices, with guidance from AbilityNet.  
  • You agree to provide feedback on the impact of the device(s) as requested, for use in AbilityNet marketing material.  

Faults & Liability  

  • AbilityNet accepts no liability for faults or malfunctions in devices or SIMs.  
  • Accidental damage (e.g. broken screens) is the responsibility of the recipient. 

Privacy

In order for our trainers to deliver the best support possible, we need to collect some information from you including your contact details and any disability information. We use a US-based database that fully complies with UK data protection legislation to store this information securely. Information is shared only with AbilityNet administrative and volunteer teams.
