Trustee Profile: Mike Evason
Mike Evason joined AbilityNet as an independent Trustee in 2023, having previously served on the Board as IBM’s Corporate Trustee representative since 2021.
Mike is an experienced leader with deep expertise in charity partnerships, Corporate Responsibility and Communications developed over a 25-year career in UK, European and global roles.
Mike spent a large part of his career to date at global technology leader, IBM, where significant posts included Head of Corporate Responsibility for Europe and Head of Communications for UK and Ireland. Mike was also manager of the IBM United Kingdom Trust, developing partnerships with hundreds of charities and educational organisations around Europe and Africa.
In addition to his responsibilities with AbilityNet, Mike has recently been appointed Trustee of the Myton Hospices, a Warwickshire-based charity providing vital end-of-life care and support to more than 2,000 patients, families and carers each year.
He was also previously a member of the Board of Directors of CSR Europe, the leading European business network for Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility.
Mike has recently taken a career break to better provide care and support to his teenage son who has a significant learning disability. Through both lived and professional experience, he believes passionately in the importance of listening to and advocating for those who may not have a voice or who are vulnerable, whether that may be due to disability, illness or social disadvantage, and in the role that technology can play in transforming lives.
