AbilityNet ITCanHelp Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with AbilityNet. Our volunteers use their IT (information technology) skills and know-how to help older people and disabled people of any age to achieve their goals in the digital world and participate online. Our vision is a digital world accessible to all.

PLEASE NOTE: We are currently looking for volunteers in the following regions; Avon, Bristol, Cumbria, Devon, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Kent, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Norfolk, North London, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Suffolk, Sussex, Tyne & Wear, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Yorkshire.

We currently have two volunteer roles available. For more information about our main volunteer role you can download the Technology Volunteer role description from our website as a PDF. Or if you are instead interested in a broader role you can download the County Coordinator role description. Please call 0800 048 7642 during UK office hours or email volunteers@abilitynet.org.uk for more details of the available roles and the locations.

To apply to become a volunteer, please enter the Captcha information below and then press the 'Fill Out Application Form’ button.

As part of the application process, as you will often be working one-to-one with clients in their homes, we will conduct a disclosure check and an interview will be conducted with the volunteer coordinator in your region.

Please note:

  • Volunteers must be aged 18 or over.
  • Because the nature of the work involves contact with vulnerable people, all successful applicants will be subject to a disclosure check (basic or enhanced - dependant on location) by Disclosures and Barring Service (England and Wales), Disclosure Scotland, or Access NI.
  • We require six months residence in the UK for us to progress with the disclosure check.
  • We require two character references

We take personal privacy very seriously and we will never share your details with anyone else.
