Brighton DSA Assessment Centre

Please note: In response to Covid-19, Student Finance England has announced that it is possible for students to access their DSA Needs Assessment remotely. AbilityNet has run video-based online assessments in workplace and education settings for some time and can provide a full service online. Please mention your preference - online or in person - when you book your DSA Needs Assessment.

AbilityNet Brighton DSA Assessment Centre"The assessment process felt quite relaxed. The assessor was very friendly and explained things in a way that I could understand i.e did not use jargon. He went through everything he had written in the report and made sure that I was happy with it all. I would definitely use AbilityNet again." - Lucy

What happens during a Needs Assessment?

Some people will be concerned that an assessment is a test of some kind - relax and rest assured it's more like a friendly chat. You've already been approved for funding and the assessor is there as an independent expert - there to advise you and make recommendations that will help you to succeed.

Our assessor will use their skills and knowledge to explain the equipment and other resources available to help you and you may even be given the chance to test out some of the equipment. If you'd like to know more about what to expect read our blog about what happens during a Needs Assessment.

By Train

Nearest train station: Brighton

From the drop off point at the back of the station walk towards the Jury's Inn Hotel. Go down the steps to your right that are just before the hotel. Look directly to your left and cross where you see a pedestrian crossing area. If you look to your right you will see a sign on a wooden fence saying "Brighton Junction" with an arrow pointing left. Head in this direction down two sets of steps and turn sharply to your right at the bottom. The main entrance to Brighton Junction is straight ahead of you.

By Car

We recommend that you use online route planning, such as Google Maps, using our postcode: BN1 4GQ

From New England Street, drive up Cross Street, which is in between Church of Christ the King (the Clarendon Centre) and Brewers, and follow it around to the left into Boston Street. Drive straight on until you reach the Brighton Junction entrance.

Alternative parking can be found nearby at Brighton Station car park; head along Stroudley Road and turn left along Billinton Way. The pay and display car park is directly ahead.

Blue Badge parking is available at Brighton Junction (subject to availability). If you have a Blue Badge and require parking please let us know before your assessment and we will reserve a space.
