Coronavirus: Disabled Student Allowances (DSA) Needs Assessments available via online video call

In response to the coronavirus Student Finance England has announced that it is possible for students to access their DSA Needs Assessment remotely. AbilityNet has run video-based online assessments in workplace and education settings for some time and can provide a full service online.

Having your DSA Needs Assessment at a DSA Centre

AbilityNet operates assessments for Disabled Students Allowances (DSA) in various locations around the UK, and has staff delivering accessibility and other services based in several offices.

These services and offices remain open for the time being, but we continue to check the advice of the UK Government and will announce any further decisions via the usual channels.

Having your DSA Needs Assessment via an online video call

Video calls can be just as effective for students to meet with a professional assessor and discuss their needs. They are fully confidential and can be supplemented with phone calls if follow up is required.

If students would prefer to complete their DSA Needs Assessment via an online video call rather than visiting a DSA Centre in person this can be arranged, please mention your DSA Needs Assessment preference - online or in person - when you speak with our booking team.

Other AbilityNet services

On 10 March 2020, after careful consideration, we made the decision to temporarily suspend our home visit volunteer service with immediate effect for 4 weeks.

Read our statement about the suspension of AbilityNet home visit volunteer service for details of how you can access our IT support remotely during this time.

Other AbilityNet services and offices remain open for the time being, but we continue to check the advice of the UK Government and will announce any further decisions via the usual channels.
